Tang Chao Cafe

2009
08.14

Hubby Panda Laptop bag’s strap broke off yesterday resulted the bag to drop on the floor and the  pity laptop cracked a bit. Results of not enough padding inside the bag. Lucky the laptop still can be used.

So, we went to the nearest place from our house yesterday night,  Digital Mall to get him a new bag. And, at the same time intend to take this opportunity to get myself one too.. But… failed.. I couldn’t found a PINK colour or RED colour one..  Sad. When Hubby Panda asked the sales girl whether they had pink colour bag or not, she told him there do have mickey mouse one. HELLLLLOOOO!!! Did I look like I am still young? erm.. if yes.. thank  you. Sad. Shall find time to go Low Yat Plaza again. But, Hubby Panda managed to get himself a black one. Biasalah.. (Normal) Guy will go for black.

Since we were there, we had our dinner beside Digital Mall at Tang Chao Cafe. It was a partially self service restaurant as we had to queue up at the counter, ordered our food, paid our money, be seated and the food will be served to you after that. I don’t quite like this kind of patially self service cafe. What if I come alone, order my food, and can’t find a place to sit? Does that mean I have to sit on the floor with my food?

I patroned this cafe for few times before and lucky that I don’t have to come alone each time. We ordered Herbal Chicken Rice and Spring rolls.  eye rolling.. Hubby panda and me ordered same food. Except for our drink. I had barley (RM 2.50) and he had Barley lime (RM2.80)

Herbal Chicken Rice RM8.oo

The Herbal Chicken Rice tasted good. The herb was not too strong and not too mild – just nice. And the meat was tendered enough. However, it was best to eat while still hot. Not so nice when it got cold. So, do eat fast.

Spring Rolls RM4.00

The spring rolls was not so good. Not recommended. Cause the oil smell was too strong. And the vege was tasteless. I tried to dip in soy sauce, but tasted not good. And I even tried to dip at chilli sauce but, tasted not good either. Disappointed.

Other reconmended food there was Sambal Sotong Rice where they served in a special wooden bowl, spagethi and burger. They had variety of food from Chinese Food to western food. Overall, it was a good place with a reasonable price.

Will  definitely go there again to try other food.

It was a DISASTER..

In fact, I was kinda reluctant to post this…

But, after much consideration, I decided.. I have to give “it” a fame. After all, it was my first cake with decoration.

See.. (no eye see..)

Tadah… shy shy..

Put a candle on it to show that it was REALLY a cake..

It use to be a beautiful cake before I decorated it. Luckily I ain’t a Fashion Designer. A beautiful model will end up awkward if I “decorate” them. :P

I had bake many times previously but minus the decoration. Overall, it was a cake without clothes. However, I decided to give it a try today to decorate it but, it turned out to be disaster.

Cry..

Ask the Malaysian and they will tell you that Penang was famous for leng jai (handsome boy) opps.. once upon a time but now, I am  not sure about it. lol (No offence Penang guys) good FOOD with CHEAP price. I went there together with Hubby Panda & Parents in law last week merely to walk walk, see see, eat eat.

Komtar – trade mark of Penang

I definitely ate a lot when I was there. Not wanted to miss any good food around. And definitely didnt realised if there any leng jai around as my eye focus very much on FOOD.. (say with serious tone) lol

Restaurant Bawah Pokok (under tree)

Well known for their fastest cooking restaurant in Penang..

Pork Knuckle

Yew Char Kuey with Mayonnaise

Sour spicy soup

Fried Chicken Wings

Fried Fish

Fried Oyster

True enough it was fast as the food was served 10 minutes after we placed the order. And the price for all the above including drinks and snacks was RM69.00. Duh…cheap.. However, it wasnt the famous Penang food

Gurney Drive- Located beside Gurney Plaza

When we talked about Penang, the below food will be at the TOP chart.. (based on Clumsypanda Chart)

Asam Laksa

Char Kuey Tiao (Fried Kuey Tiao)

Hock Kien Mee (Prawn Noodle)

Fried Oyster

Ikan Bakar (grilled fish)

Cockle

Chicken, cheese sausages, ham, bacon

Chendol

Even Phua Chu Kang & Rosie can’t resist..

AND..

On our way back to Petaling Jaya, Hubby Panda stopped for DURIAN session at Sitiawan..

Can’t accept the smell.. Sorry Durian Lover..

MR BEAN   CLUMSYPANDA ON HOLIDAY.. Will be back next week..

BUT, WAIT WAIT… before that,  I have something to share here..

KFC did not pay me for this advertisement. But, if they want, I dont mind.. hi hi..

For those of you who love cheese, fall in love with cheese, can’t live without cheese, as much as Jerry (as in Tom and Jerry) love cheese, .. ITELYOU, this is for you..

YOU WONT REGRET (at least I don’t). The new KFC product CheezyChickaroni was so good and even better when it was still hot. Once I had my first bite of it, oh mind.. I was flying..

look at the amount of cheese all over macaroni

and flying and still flying.. until reality set in. It make me FAT. Hate it.

Ok. Tata..

The Bak Chang Making

2009
05.26

I never know I was so .. ehem.. talented in making Dumpling or better known as Bak Chang until I hands on to make it last Saturday.  I had heard enough of stories of people making it and how the dumpling got “burst” mid way while cooking, and I was prepared to face the same thing also. But, proud to say, my dumpling all came out nicely without even one got burst.. Ha ha.. So proud of myself.. Pai Seh.. But, need to see who is my master also la.. Of course my mother..

Knowing that I am a very very very (x100) impatient person, she warned me beforehand that making dumpling needs a lot of patient. And it was true enough.. It really tested my patient but, the satisfaction level seeing my dumpling turned up in good shape was .. good. Real good.

My first ever Dumpling make by me ClumsyPanda..

In bundle before cook..

Tadah.. After cook..

Maybe I should consider selling Bak Chang if I am out of job one day.. :P

-HAPPY DUMPLING FESTIVAL-
