Day 3 & 4 in Bangkok

2009
01.29

I had enough rest. I had enough sleep. I had been sleeping throughout my new year holiday (even before that). I had been sleeping like nobody business. Friends back home, pardon me for not going out during Chinese New Year and ffk as I really need extra sleep. Haiz..

I am not in a mood to do anything during my holiday.. Something bothering me and maybe I will not disclose it much now as there were still a lot of question without answer at the moment. Truly unexpected!! A dead was alive!! I rather not believed it!! not refering my Lord Jesus Christ where I truly believed He was raised from dead but, a late friend of mine!! What a joke!! BUT WHY?!! :(

Not wanting to talk about it much. Let me continue with my Bangkok trip where I better continue writing before it went into cold storage.

Alright.. on the 3rd day of our trip in Bangkok, we went to Siam Paragon right after our breakfast.. Paragon is more towards a high class shopping centre where you can see branded item in store. And.. BRANDED = EXPENSIVE!!

A view of Chinatown!! Outside the Hotel we stayed

The entrance

Clumsypanda with Clumsypanda best friend!! Everyone say Hai hai to Ronald Mcdonald!!

A mountain made by different types of chocolate. How sweet..

I saw this very creative Christmas tree and it was build by using Coca Cola Can..

7 Eleven Slushee .. itelyou.. I miss it a lot. It came with sugar cane and jelly. So so refreshing!! Is it availabe in Malaysia?

cute.. gonna take picture of this!!

In the afternoon, we headed to Baiyoke Boutique located at Pratunam. I found this place a boring place with nothing much to see. So, we walked to Platinum Mall again (just about 15 minutes walked).

Outside Baiyoke boutique..

We had our lunch at the Pratinum Mall

Tom Yam Seafood Bihun which tasted superb.

Hubby Panda ordered this.

Didn’t know what fruit is this and the taste.. aiks…

We continued to shop again after lunch and then eat again and then shop again. I guess my trip to bangkok was really merely shop, eat, sleep. Shop, eat, sleep.

PORK.. and.

PORK.. and..

PORK again!!

No wonder I got FAT!!

last stop on day 3. Century Market again..

It was when Hubby panda received a message informing us that our flight will be delayed.. I was happy.. meaning delayed can shop more but.. we were doubtful of how reliable is the message. He received 2 message informing us two different departure time. And calls to Air Asia was no availed.

So, we waited till the next morning and hence received another message stating different time again.Hubby panda requested his colleague to log in to Air Asia website to check on the time but, the stated status was no changes. Then, he requested the Hotel staff to contact Air Asia but, can’t get through also. Haiz..

Hubby Panda calling the call centre

So, we got no choice but to go to the Airport early.. Quite sad to leave this shopping paradise. Told Hubby Panda I will be back here again..

Bye Chinatown!!

BYEEEEE Hotel!!

I don’t miss your drinking water!!! It tasted weird!!

We board a taxi to airport. But before that, we had our last minute shopping at Chinatown!!

When we reached airport..

It was indeed DELAYED!!!

Air Asia, you know if your information was reliable (not change now and then) and your call centre were easy to get through, and your website was up to date, I might have extra shopping bags to bring home!!! Hate you!!

So, since we arrived airport much earlier, we requested for ealier flight home.. And thank God, there had vacant place.

Had this in the airport!! I miss it very much..

One of the thing I respect Thailand citizen was there had high respect of their king. When they talk, they will say “My King”. and.. pardon me.. I only know my king name when I asked Hubby panda in Bangkok. pai seh.. shame shame..

 Bye Bangkok..

Overall I enjoyed my holiday, enjoy my shopping enjoy my food.. Just ENJOY!! Will be back there again..

-the end-

AND AND.

HAPPY CHINESE NEW YEAR!! EVERYONE!!!

I NEED MY BEAUTY SLEEP!!!

Day 2 in Bangkok

2009
01.15

Clumsypanda woke up early in the morning.. Didn’t want to waste any of my precious time (we didnt come to Bangkok to sleep anyway) and pai seh!! I was hungry again..

We prepared ourselves, and had our breakfast at the Hotel Cafe.. (Remember I wrote in my earlier post that the hotel served  boring breakfast). I was hoping the hotel would serve something like buffet style with variety of foods.. But.. but.. when I looked around, I could only see drinks (orange, pandan, soya milk, coffee, tea )and cream soup and some bread and jam. And we were given a choice on how we would like our egg to be cooked. Boring.. But, HATE it when those boring breakfast also contributed to my extra kilos…

My breakfast

Coffee .. Yawn.. (Ok la.. this made me feel better la)

Egg, bread, sausage and salad.. Yawn..

Cream Soup.. Yawn..

Bread & butter with strawberry jam.. Yawn..

Since this was a free and easy trip, with me totally zero knowldege of Bangkok (Hubby Panda visited Bangkok 3 months ago), we asked the Hotel staff of any reconmended place to go or not. So, she immediately told us- Pratunam and added that the place sold clothes at very cheap price. So, when girls heard the word CHEAP, what do you expect? Up we went by cab, and once we reached Pratunam, I tell you, it was SHOPPING PARADISE!!

There were a lot of stores selling more towards clothes, bags and shoes. It was like a wholesale market as the more you buy (normally more than 3 pieces) the cheaper the price. That’s why everywhere we went, we could see people carrying big big bags. I assumed those buyers bought the clothes to be sold at other places. And, it was crowded.

Pratunam

Hubby Panda accompanied me in the begining and then, went for foot massage while I continued shopping. (Girls normally have more energy when it come to shopping.. blah) Yeah.. A lot of people told me that I should go for massage at Thailand. But what to do, I was too busy shopping. Ha ha..

I managed to buy few clothes over there but, after hours of walking around, I told Hubby Panda that I was very very dizzy and needed some sugar and .. and.. FOOD. So, we walked over to Platinum Fashion Mall to have our lunch. I was asking around was there any McDonald sat the Mall and kinda dissapointed when the Information Counter told us NO. Call me crazy for looking or McDonalds at Thailand.. But, you will know why later.

The Platinum Fashion Mall

Clumsypanda ordered Kuey Chap.. Tasted really good

Hubby Panda ordered Pork Rice

After lunch we continued to shop again and then, we were too tired to walk that I decided to do what I do best. Ladies and gentlement, introduce you to Curly Cool Salon.

Below was my conversation with the hair stylist. (agak agak lah)

Me : (simple english) I want do hair relaxer .. (word by word)

Hairstylist 1: Hair straightening?

Me: No. Hair relaxer. Straight but not too staight. Natural straight.

Hairstylist 1 sought help from hair stylist 2

Me: (to hairstylist 2) Can you speak English?

Hairstylist 2: Yes. Little bit.

Me: You know hair relaxer?

Hairstylist 2: Ya. I know. Permanent straight.

Hairstylist 2 talk to hairstylist 1 (i didn’t know what they talked about but, kept touching my hair)

Me: So, can?

Hairstylist 2: Can

Me: Natural straight.

Hairstylist 2: Yeah yeah..

Hubby Panda: ARE YOU CONFIDENT?!!

Me: Yeah

But, I was full of anxiety for that 2 hours. Wondering how may hair would look like. But, the result was up to my expection. I liked it. Worth my 1500 baht..

For your information, this was the first time I washed hair at the salon SEATED up. (see behind the picture) The normal salon I went, I used to lie down, but, here, I had to sit while putting my head on the basin. lol..

After 2 hours in at salon, with my new look, we continued to shop again.

In the evening, we went to Century night market, which was introduced by one of the local guy over there. But, I suspected he was not a simple local guy. Cause, he told us that he was waiting for his wife inside the mall shopping and then continued to tell us about nice places in Thailand. The reason I said he was not a simple local guy was, the next day when I went to shop at The Platinum Mall again, I saw him, the same guy AGAIN, talking to some foreigners. Maybe he was an “undercover tour guide” or.. HIS WIFE STILL SHOPPED INSIDE THE MALL!!! Someone, please HELP him.. He waited too long..

Me and Hubby in tut tut.

 Camwhoring while in tut tut

Before we went to the Century Night Market, we decided to stop at Cyber Cafe to do our usual activities there. Hubby Panda looked the most energetic and fresh in cyber cafe..Ha ha..

In cyber cafe..

Bangkok was still very much into Christmas mood even though Chinese New Year was just around the corner. Everywhere we went, shopping centres were still with their christmas deco. Nice.. Whereas, here in Malaysia, it was like the Interior Designer couldn’t wait for the clock to turn 12, so that they could take down the decoration and put up CNY decoration and then, show off .. (Just like pit stop crew waiting to service the F1 car.)

Actually I wanted to sit on top of the deer

At the century night market, we had our dinner and I ordered a mee that I would say weird (looked nice but tasted iakss) . It had sour-ish taste and spicy but not a Tomyam and the fishball smelt fishy and was served together with raw vege.. I ate little bit of it and put aside as I found it did not suit my taste. However, I found out that people in Bangkok had this food always. scratch head..!!

Century night maket..

Century Night market. FYI, the local guy told us that there were 50,000 stores at this market. But, WTH.. it was a only a small market. Haiz.. But, .. I tell you, I found MCDONALDS while walking at the market. Ha ha.. At last.. at last.. My Pork Burger.. See.. I die die told myself I must take pork burger in Bangkok as we didn’t have it in Malaysia. See..

I AM LOVING IT!!

End of day 2:

Lesson I learned from Day 2: It was so much fun wearing a shirt, a short pant and slipper to shop in Bangkok.

Day 1 Bangkok Trip

2009
01.11

Clumsypanda is back from Bangkok.. Love the place, love the food, love the shopping, love the culture, miss the fun, miss the jokes, HATE the extra kilos (refer to my body. Not my bag) that I brought home.. Haiz.. better start on diet again..

This was the first time Hubby Panda and I traveled by Air Asia. Kinda worried at first as we heard the flight was always delayed, the seat was small, and so on.. We reached LCCT terminal quite early at about 8:30 am (our scheduled flight was 10:40 am.) and Hubby panda had his Mc Breakfast at the airport. Yeap.. you heard me right. Hubby Panda had his Mc Breakfast at the airport. And I PURPOSELY skipped my breakfast as I wanted to have Nasi Lemak inside the plane.. But,WTH!!! They don’t served Nasi Lemak at that time and so no choice.. I had to opt for beef steak instead.. Cry!!! My Mc Breakfast!!!! (For those who don’t know, Clumsypanda is a fan of Mc Breakfast)

Camwhoring while waiting..

Air Asia Beef Steak

Air Asia Sandwich

There was no delayed of the flight (lucky us) and we reached Bangkok at Bangkok Time 11:45 am. From the airport, we traveled about 40 minutes to the hotel by using the cab. Mind! Itelyou!! They had colourful cab and the cars they used were Toyota Camry or Altis.. And, I was wondering how much it cost for those car in Thailand?!! Majority of the cab looks new and clean. Nothing like the cab back here.. Sorry..!!

And, I, of course opt for the pink colour cab!! Ha ha..

It cost us 300 Baht from Airport to the Hotel ..

We stayed at Chinatown Hotel as recommended by one of my friend. Though the Hotel looked a little bit old and congested, but, at least we found it comfortable and located at a stategic place. As stated by the name itself – Chinatown, we felt more like China here than in Thailand. Everywhere we went, there were goldsmith shop, birdnest shop, people selling lottery ticket, hardware shop and when the night fall, you can see a lot of street hawker.

The rate of the hotel was 1580 Baht per night where we stayed for 3 nights including boring breakfast.

The ambiance of the Hotel

 Cute decoration

Our room- Superior Room

From my Room window..

Well, when we reached the Hotel, an incident which was not supposed to happen at all took place which caused embarassment for the next 4 days I stayed there. Memalukan!! When the cab we took reached the Hotel, a kinda small size door man rushed out with the intention to help us to carry our luggage. So, as usual the cab driver opened the car bonnet but, before he could took our luggage out, I, CLUMSYpanda, closed the car bonnet and YES!!! It hit his head HARD and I was then, still laughing non stopped while apologized to him. Luckily he did not faint. But, each time we saw each other during my stayed there, we would continue to laugh at each other. Haiz..

We headed to MBK shopping place after checked in and managed to shop for clothes there. It was so damned cheap. Frankly speaking, I was not very good at bargaining but, Hubby Panda was real good at it. I choose the things I like, told Hubby Panda how much I willing to pay for it, and there.. he would bargained with the sales person there and normally, he would get the price that he want. Though they can’t really speak english but at least they undertstand figures which made our bargaining easier.. :P

I kinda like the telephone booth over there. Like Superman changing place..

Grilled Banana with sweet sauce.. Taste a little bit weird as the banana was a little bit hard.. but, kinda like it after few eating..

Pork Sausage with rice inside.. Tasted good.. I miss it.

We shopped till dinner time and then decided to have our dinner at The Fifth MBK. Its was more like a high class food court and everything seems so tasty and presentable that we ordered a lot and at last can’t finished the food. Forgive us!!

Beef Rice

Kyoza (something like dumpling)

Set of Papaya Salad and Tom Yam

Papaya Salad

Tom Yam Gung

Fried Pork.. (Siew Bak)

My Coconut Drink

There were some I did not took the photo as I was too busy eating ..lo.. like Miso soup and Banana Drink..

I like the food there.. It was tasty.. And in conclusion.. I end up eating more than Hubby Panda as I was always hungry. Ha ha..

After dinner we continue to shop again and then, headed back straight to our Hotel.

First lesson I learned in Bangkok: Do not use 7-Eleven as your landmark. Everywhere we go, every few metres away, we can see another 7-Eleven.

-To be Continue-
